Julia

Julia received her B.F.A. from Washington University, St. Louis, in the art of metal-smithing, and her M.F.A. degree in Costume Design from San Francisco State University in the Theatre Arts program. She designed jewelry, one-of-a-kind clothing and soft sculptures before her textile art evolved into costuming for theatrical productions.

Since 1995 she has worked for Summer Repertory Theatre, and currently wears two large and plumaged hats, Costume Director and Costume Designer. Recognized as an expert in her field, Kwitchoff teaches classes in Costume Construction and Props for Santa Rosa Junior College in addition to overseeing the college’s Costume Shop.

Julia’s ability to take raw textiles and transform them into museum quality pieces is demonstrated by the engaging artwork she has created from the Running Fence panel fabric.

Madeline

Madeline, color whisperer and pattern enthusiast is in her natural habitat when surrounded by unidentified paper scraps, birds and good tools.

Her work is like puuurfect coffee, served to you by your best friend in your Antie’s chipped teacup.

Spending her early years with her paternal grandmother on the family farm in Illinois, she learned to make use of what was available; buttons, rags, and ephemera and continues this tradition in her seventh decade.

After 30 years in San Francisco, she’s happily ensconced in the more rural Sonoma County where she’s found kindred art spirits in the strong community.

Ummmm…hard to explain, so I’ve created a detailed diagram of what goes on in my brain:
